Mechanics Laboratories

Index of the laboratories

Manufacturing Laboratory

Location

AS1.2

Description

The Laboratory is equipped with machines for manufacturing pieces by machining. In the Laboratory, students take practicals for manufacturing subjects and work on manufacturing prototypes for their bachelor's and master's theses.

Subjects

Equipment

A flexible manufacturing cell connected to the computers in the Flexible Manufacturing and Metrology Laboratory, a CNC milling machine and lathe, another CNC milling machine with more manufacturing capacity, and other machines, including a lathe, a milling machine, a drill, a shearing machine, a tape saw and a press.

Mechanical Systems and Automotive Engineering Laboratory

Location

A7.9

Description

This laboratory holds the equipment for theoretical mechanics practicals. Using various mechanisms mounted on a panel, students can carry out experiments to demonstrate the theories they learn in class.

Subjects

Equipment

Mounted panels for experimentation in vector mechanics, system equilibrium and gravity centres, scales and equipment for studying deformation in latticework (MFCS3).

Applied Mechanics Laboratory

Location

A7.41

Description

The practicals for machine theory and design and mechanisms subjects take place in this laboratory. Mechanisms are mounted in models to make them easy to study, and there are machines that help students to study sets and components. There is also a rotary fatigue testing machine for studying the mechanical characteristics of materials. Practicals for the Automotive and Vehicle Safety subject are also carried out in the Laboratory.

Subjects

Equipment

Gear model, sewing machine, bicycle, fatigue machine (GUNT), electric motor (JP-GRAU), function generator (Philips), column drill, press (RCMINEX2000), car engines.

Flexible Manufacturing and Metrology Laboratory

Location

A7.8

Descripció

The practicals for manufacturing subjects take place in this laboratory. It is equipped with computers with the CAD-CAM software needed to prepare a product, from designing it to sending it to be manufactured at the mechanics workshop or the FabLab printers. The Laboratory enables the dimensions and surfaces of parts to be verified with a three-dimensional measuring machine and a 3D profilometer.

Subjects

Equipment

Metrology devices such as a sliding calliper and a micrometer, a coordinate measuring machine, a profilometer, a profile projector, a digital comparator, computers.
